Creation In 1990, with sexual violence in Israeli society on the rise, nine individual Rape Crisis Centers in Israel joined forces to create the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel. The Rape Crisis Centers work at the individual and local levels - providing essential, crisis-oriented assistance to victims of sexual assault and those who are close to them. While the Association, as an umbrella agent for social change, advocates on the national level, with the primary purpose of combating all aspects of sexual violence.
The RCCs and the Association are the only organizations that work specifically for victims of sexual assault.
Actions Over the years, the Association has been responsible for legislative changes in the field of sexual violence, nation-wide public awareness campaigns, drawing the attention of the press to relevant issues, and increasing the involvement of law enforcement officers and legal systems.
The Association participates on a regular basis in the Knesset Committees for the Promotion of Women's Status, for Children’s Rights, and for Legislation and Law. The main objective of these efforts is to improve both the victims’ rights and the services available to them.
